Birds Of A Feather
What do Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Fred Phelps have in common?
Plenty.
They both hate America with a passion, of course. Both Phelps and Mohammed have been clear on that point.
But what else could bring a couple of America-haters into an intimate, ideological unity?
Same-sex marriage.
It's more than a little amusing that, on the same day Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church issues this press release begging Ellen DeGeneres and George Takei to invite them to their respective weddings (so that they can be properly picketed and directed to Hell, of course), we find Mohammed in court, citing the recent allowance of same-sex marriage in California as proof that the United States is pure evil.
Now, I realize of course that simply pointing out the common homophobic cause found by strident religious fundamentalists of all stripes doesn't carry any logical weight regarding the validity of same-sex marriage. But I can't imagine that it makes it terribly satisfying to rail against the institution, even in a moderate way, knowing that those who are most convinced by your arguments are some of the most ghoulish and disturbing people alive today.

And I am sure Dinesh D'Douchebag, sorry, D'Souza, will seize KSM's remarks to say "See, we have to ban gay marriage in America in order to stop Muslims from hating us.!"
Re. Fred Phelps. Sung to the tune of "Betty Davis Eyes"
He's got Adolph Hitler eyes....
Eh, hating America. That's not exactly a reason to not like someone.
It all depends on their reasons, and the irony of this situation is how closely their reasons align with the social agenda of the staunchest America-lovers.
Hey, don't forget Obama's pastor for 20 years, Rev. "god dam america!" Wright!
He hates fags and "typical white people" too!
