Jerry Falwell Dead
Jerry Falwell has died at his Liberty University office.
At the risk of sounding ghoulish, I'm somewhat heartened by this turn of events. Falwell was the voice of a political and social movement which sought to antagonize anything other than mainstream Christianity in this country, and with his passing, I'm hopeful that the chapter of American history he helped write will be soon coming to a close.
At the very least, the guy died doing what he loved- surrounded by his ideological fellows right in the heart of an academic monument to his beliefs. Not a bad way to go, all things being equal.

I will not express regret that he's dead. He was a hateful mountain of feces, and the world is a better (and safer) place without him in it.
Good riddance.
Wow, you are fast Zach! I cant believe you beat me to posting this ;)
And I was gonna go with the post header "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead!" LOL
...and you can bet that the Phelps will have some kind of weird graphic on their site, and probably a picket.
I have to admit, as a follower of Christ, I was not a big fan of Falwell. I wanted to post that I thoroughly enjoy the Evolution 101 podcast, as well as the Apologia podcast. I'm put off by many who regard evangelicals as antagonistic (admittedly, many deserve such a characterisation) but counter with nothing other than the same antagonism alongside often solid arguments. Having said that, I appreciate the accomodating friendliness and desire to converse together peacefully as represented in your Apologia podcast. I am in Fort Worth attending Southwestern Seminary. We should talk sometime over a beer. I have all kinds of questions.
John-
I probably have as many questions as you do, but I'm always up for a beer.
